Linda's Blog #2

Dearest Barb and Arnie,

Today is just a beautiful day, sunny and not the least bit windy. Lucy Patricia and I got to go and walk in the park near here for about an hour. It was just beautiful, as it seems that the cold weather had toned down for a bit. Murphy has even gone out once or twice. He will carefully sniff the air, with the back door wide open to see if he will go out. I of course now understand my Father much better. I am jumping up and down trying to get him to do anything, as I heat all of the out doors.
I was doing that on another occasion this week, as I had the furniture cleaned. They had to run the hot water tube and what looked like an heavy industrial electricity power cord up the stairs from a truck parked in the driveway. The truck looks very far away when the heat is turned on. The front door is wide open, I turned the heat down, and the men clean in their coats. It took two men about two hours to not just clean, but deep steam clean, just about every fiber in here. Even they said it was a lot. It was great to have all that work done, while heating the great outdoors.

What I could get used to is, having other people do all the work. It was an impulse thing, they called, the woman's’ name was Lucy, I just had to do it. I have to say I just dread this job, it is a huge one, but this was so easy, all I had to was sign the cheque. The furniture and rugs were in down right dirty condition from all the construction and my feeble attempts just seemed to stir the muck. In fact, the gentleman asked if I had put the covers in the wash. He told me to discontinue that practice as it ages the fabric. I told him my elderly dog used to wipe her face on the white sofa, as she was too old at the end to use the Oriental rug.
After hearing David Suzuki talk last Saturday I came home and changed the air filter on the furnace, and cleaning the furniture, there is no dust. None. However my nose has taken to falling off my face because it is so dry. The wet rugs helped a bit with the problem. I think the house smells better.

I went to see the movie last night, called Dream Girls and I have to say it was not one I really wanted to see, but it turned out to be entertaining. One of the costumes looked like my curtains from my bedroom of my youth. It is the loose story of the Supremes and they were big in my youth. There is a promotion here with East Side Mario’s and the movie theatre on Wednesday night. For $19,99 you get dinner and a movie. However we had dessert and tea was well. The movie was our choice. Walking to the theatre was difficult as I felt like I was a tummy on legs, I had eaten so much. We parked the car prior to dinner, near the theatre and waddled there afterwards. The snow bank just about did us in.

The Dog Trot is dead. My first action as chair of the committee was to kill it. I think I told you that it cost $6,000 to raise $15,000. Well, there was also staff salaries that were not included and guess what, it cost money. I also had the committee review income and expense statements for the last four years. (dad lives on) The Jog is dead, long live the Wrap. So another woman does Christmas Wrapping and makes $18,000 with out lay of $3,000, does not include of course the time of the volunteers.
I called the Visa again and have started another war. Merchant services upped the price for me it is basically costing me about 18% of the total including the tax, to use the service. They had agreed to lower my “discount” and let my guard down for a minute and forgot to get that in writing. Well it has been three months and no discounted discount. No body remembers the Australian lady I talked with and I cannot remember her name......poop.

Just this morning, I called City Hall to continue my fight with them, just to for something to do. I have been for years now, trying to get the list or be on the list for conventions that come to town. This may happen as the Director of Tourism, a new post here in Moncton, had breakfast with me while I aired my grievances. (She paid for it as I told her I was starving to death)
I just love voice mail; her underling called mere minutes later to start the little project.

Are you getting any reading in? If yes let me know this book is based in Three Pines, just outside of Montreal. Canadian Author first mystery novel.

SO, am wondering how you are all doing. We are well here, and enjoying our summer holiday.
Blessings dear friends upon your cotten pickin hearts!
